Testimonials

God has blessed the Cancer Ministry with many servant hearts and words of thanks from those we serve. Below are a few testimonies to the love and care we offer and from those who give so lovingly.

“While your delicious food took care of the hunger, your thoughtfulness filled our souls with joy. May God give you strength and energy to continue doing His work for humanity. I pray God to reward you in folds and abundantly bless our great family of God, Cannon UMC.” Care Receiver, Cannon Church Member

“As you know, I lost a niece who was only 33 years old to cancer. She was a vibrant soul with a blessed heart who never let her spirit or her faith wander. Every opportunity to share the gifts that God has given me to the benefit of those in need is an opportunity to honor Him. My interactions with the Cancer Ministry allow me to remember Julie in a positive way, further understand her struggles and challenges and at the same time, I can serve others who are in need by using the gifts He bestowed upon me.” Legal Team Member

“Having experienced the shock of being told: ‘you have cancer’ – the fear and confusion that follows- the discomfort and after effects of treatment- and love and support from earthly and heavenly sources- I felt called to assist and share my journey with others going through the cancer maelstrom. One result for me was fully realizing the truth of the adage: It is far better to give than receive.” Assessor

“The Cancer Ministry has given me a greater appreciation for life and making each day count for our Lord. Christ wants simple obedience; shall we step out or step back. What a wonderful way to serve-to replace despair with hope and trust!!” SWAT Team Member

“With the new year approaching, I am reflecting the past and my thoughts return to you, your kindness, and the miracles of the Cannon Cancer Ministry. My husband was diagnosed with cancer at age 45, my mom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and a year later my father had a debilitating stroke. Although these were tumultuous times, Cannon became our salvation. Sara, you nurtured, you supported, you brought me toilet tissue! Your food angels brought sustenance and light to my father and also to my husband, when he was able to partake. Your transportation angels were there at beck and call, Jim was always there with a smile and a prayer. Thanks to you and Cannon, I made it through ALMOST losing my husband, my mothers’ death, and my father’s death only 9 weeks later. I salute the Cancer Ministry and praise the Lord you were there for me and my family. The Holidays were an ordeal for me, but I felt the strength of your ministry long after the hands-on healing and support. May God bless.” Wife of Care Receiver

“Thank you for transporting Mother to her radiation treatments. She enjoyed having new faces and smiles to brighten her day through this difficult time. Thank you for helping take some of the load off of family who had to work.” Daughter of a Care Receiver

“We can’t thank you enough for all you have done; cleaning, meals, yard work. You have blessed us with a pumpkin for the fall and a Christmas tree to celebrate Christmas. The Cancer Ministry has been a huge blessing to my family!!” Care Receiver

“As I see how many people are on the prayer list with cancer, I am flooded again with rivers of thanks and life saving support Cannon Pray-ers and Cancer Ministry folk provided to me and my family. The concern and willing, even cheerful help of drivers, cooks, care-senders, hug givers, literally carried me and my family through a rough storm. We send our encouragement to those weathering the storm now and we pray God’s blessings on each of you.” Care Receiver/Cancer Survivor

“In July 2005, my life took a new turn; I lost the love of my life, my best friend, my husband. With time on my hands, I decided to volunteer to be an Assessor for the Cancer Ministry. My first case was a special lady whose husband had lung cancer. Our teams came in, brought hot food, home care landscaped the yard, housecleaning mopped, scrubbed, and polished. A Stephen Minister became a friend she could talk with. Our Spiritual Friends team prayed with her. In 3 short weeks her husband was gone. When I get lonely and feel like sinking down into despair, I go visit this precious lady. She is an inspiration in her faith and always makes me feel better. Thing is, I am supposed to make her feel better. Funny how things work out that way, but with God all things are possible.” Assessor

“Every time I drive away from a Care Receiver’s home, I feel God’s love inside me and I know that He is proud of me. I share what I do with others hoping they will feel the joy I do by serving others.” Team Leader

“My son had cancer and I was blessed by many who helped us. It is time I give back in appreciation.” Team Leader

“Miracles come in the form of love, respect, casseroles, laughter, tears, lawn care, hugs, cleaning homes, riding in a car to a doctor’s appointment, hope, friendship and prayer.” Leader
